Who Runs the House

A small, independent crew with an unreasonable fondness for painted horses.

Our purpose

Why we keep the lights on

Scenetoniccarouselmd is published by Scene Tonic Carousel Media LLC, a small Maryland company. We write for evening readers, visitors and families who want to know what they are looking at when the band organ starts. We are not affiliated with Glen Echo Park, the National Park Service, Trimper's Rides, the Smithsonian or any carousel operator.

Method

How we research

We rely on park and museum publications, preservation societies' records, newspaper archives and published histories. Where sources disagree on a date or attribution, we say so rather than pick a side quietly.

Visits

Time on the platform

We visit the carousels we write about, as paying riders. No operator reviews our copy before publication and no one pays for coverage.

Corrections

Getting it right

Spot an error? Leave a message at the door. We review every correction and update pages with a note when a fact changes.
